It’s FREE, so come on down.
The kitchen is open, too, so make a meal of it.

We’re still serving the likes of fish & chips and our 28-day aged rump steak, so the Christmas spirit is entirely optional!

Hello Locals & Neighbourhood,
As you may be aware there have been some changes at The Herne since we took over in June, there’s new food, a big clean up and overhaul of the garden, added sparkly lights and smiles, we’ve been told it’s a breath of fresh air by many of you so thank you all so much for your support.
We’ve worked to make the back bar feel more cosy, a place for quiet suppers, romantic trysts and for friends to catch up over good food, real ale & wine.
The Herne Tavern continues to be community focused pub catering for everyone, having listened to customers we have tried to readdress the balance so that those with children and those without both feel equally relaxed and welcome when they visit. So please don’t take offence if staff ask children to behave or quieten down, it’s all about ensuring that everyone enjoys their visit. We continue to welcome well behaved children until 8pm, but would ask that children are not left to wander around unsupervised for their own safety and as with most Pubs there is a no children at the Bar policy. Other than that we have provided colouring pens etc, and things to do so they have something to entertain them whilst you enjoy your lunch and a drink.
MONDAY — SATURDAY: 2 courses* for £15.50 with a 125ml glass of Prosecco, this great special offer will be running through November. (*2 courses can be a starter and main, or a main and dessert)
SUNDAY LUNCH: We pride ourselves on our Roast Lunch and it’s proved very popular with everyone, so please book in advance if possible.
SUNDAY EVENING: Is all about the Pub Quiz from 7pm with topics across music & media, which ends up as Play Your Cards Right, for big cash prizes, so gather some friends together and head on down.

All in all we are trying to make your great local even greater.
The garden enjoyed a makeover this summer, gone are the scruffy humps and massive playground; new are the zoned seating areas and a huge lawn. In the Spring 2016 we will be looking to install a mini playground for pre-school children, and we will be providing deckchairs on the lawn for the summer so you can read the paper whilst you sit in the sunshine and enjoy a pint.
The Herne Tavern has been bought by Taplin & Turvil, a local pub company that will bring this great London Pub back to life.
The Herne Tavern has been voted into the Evening Standards list of top ten beer gardens in the Capital and is the only pub nominated in south east London.
Here is what the evening standard had to say about it:
The Herne Tavern, East Dulwich
The Herne Tavern is so family-friendly, we almost had our baby shower here. The large beer garden has a children’s play area — with five-star reviews from the wee nippers — and a converted barn for social functions. On the weekend, the roasts waft all the way to Dulwich Village, bringing starving middle-class families from miles around.
