Welcome to the Herne Tavern

About us

The Herne Tavern is a traditional Victorian pub situated on Forest Hill Road in East Dulwich, right opposite the glorious green space that is Peckham Rye. Run by new licensees since June 2015, The Herne has a new lease of life! Come and check us out.

The impressive 1930s interior and quite possibly the largest garden in South East London (really…it’s huge) make it a special place to visit all year round. There are real fires and original panelling in the bar and dining area, plus a conservatory, while the garden has loads of tables and a children’s playground (kids are welcome in the garden and dining area until 8pm).

Four real ales are available on draught and the wine list has plenty of options by the glass. When it comes to eating, expect to find some good old classic dishes alongside more contemporary options. Nothing too fancy — we’re a pub! — but proper food made from great ingredients.

The Barn in the garden is ideal for private parties, functions and meetings. We can provide a buffet menu or more formal dining if you prefer; please give us a call to discuss your requirements
